Titled, numbered and with the artist's name and location in the negative, and titled, in a period hand, in ink, mount recto. NOTE: Frank La Roche, born in Philadlephia in 1853, began his long photographic career when only 17. He settled in Seattle in 1889, arriving just after the city's great fire, but quickly opened a gallery on 2nd Avenue. Between 1890 and 1902 La Roche made numerous trips to Alaska and the Yukon Territory, photographing scenery, mining and the trail. His images were sold mounted and also in a six-part album titled "Enroute to the Klondike". La Roche maintained a Seattle gallery for 25 years.
