With delicate white highlights on the child's dress; and Hesler's 113 Lake Street, Chicago stamp on mount verso.

Hesler, born in Montreal, Canada in 1823, moved to Chicago in 1853. He opened his second gallery there at 113 Lake Street in 1858, and remained there until it was destroyed by the great fire of 1871.
