With an ornate studio stamp for "Plumb Gallery...B.P. Paige Proprietor...Washington D.C...M.J. Powers Photographer" and a two cent tax stamp on mount verso. (Blanchard P. Paige may have accompanied John Plumbe to Washington to open Plumbe's Gallery there. In 1860 he was listed at the address printed on this card, and as late as 1863 he noted himself as the proprietor of the Plumbe Gallery).
The Kepi (U.S.) shown here was also known as the Chaussure style hat.
