In a full leather case, with weak hinge.
Embossed in plush pad is the photographer's stamp, "Howie Junior / Princes Edin / Photographer". Throughout the 1840s and 1850s there were a surprising number of daguerreotype and colotype studios on Princes Street in Edinburgh. These included James Howie and James Howie Junior.
With delicate hand-tinting and gold highlights on the subject's face, hands, and jewelry.
