|Albumen print, Carte-de-visite, 1860s|
With the photographer's Larimer St., Denver, Colorado studio stamp printed mount verso.
Written in a somewhat later hand, in pencil, mount verso, "Bust of Gent 10x12" possibly indicating that a 10x12 inch enlargement of just a bust of the gentleman was to be extracted from this little Carte De Visite. Given that the "bust" part of this portrait is little more than an inch high on the CDV suggests a 12-times enlargement: a remarkable feat for the day, requiring a solar enlarger.
C. Duhem Bro. was a prolific Denver photographic studio that specialized in Rocky Mountain stereo views.
