|Gelatin silver print, 1909|
Pair of photographs. First shows the "Montevideo" tethered in a field, surrounded by passengers and onlookers; the second is a close up of the basket with four passengers, three crew members and two onlookers.
Both are titled, dated (Paris November 5, 1909) and signed (signature is illegible), in Spanish, in a period hand in ink.
Coincidentally, the wildly popular "Salon de la Locomotion Aérienne," one of the world's first air shows, was held at the Grand Palais in Paris, September 25 to October 17, 1909. It is not known whether the "Montevideo" had a role three weeks before at the Grand Palais.
