A couple, posed before their camping tents and with their dog in the grass
Gelatin silver print, ca. 1900
An unlikely portrait of two not-so-sporting campers standing before their tents. She holds a flower bedecked hat in her gloved hands, and her somewhat rumpled companion is also wearing a hat and tie. A dog keeps watch behind them in the grass. Based on the trees behind them, the image was probably taken in the American west.

Written in pencil on mount verso, in a later (?) hand, is the information "unknown campers" The dark curved shape at lower right margin is probably a flake of emulsion lost during processing of the glass plate.

Size:4 1/2 x 6 7/8 in.
Condition:2+ (for the print, mount as you see is somewhat worse)
