Untitled, Group of Yakama (?) women standing before a tipi
Gelatin silver (printed out), ca. 1910
On an ornately embossed card mount. NOTE: While the subjects depicted here are probably from the Yakama Reservation, located along the Yakima River, the details of this photograph do not, however, provide a definite identification. It is also possible that the figures are members of the Umatilla Reservation, in the foothills of the Blue Mountains (northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington), or are Koutenai, from western Montana. Five of the women are wearing trade blankets made by J. Capps and Sons of Jacksonville, IL. The blankets date from 1905 to 1911
