Gelatin silver print, early 1930s
Titled and initialed by the photographer, in pencil, on the original mount recto; and with Southern's signature, London address and "(I.R.P.S.)" penciled on mount verso. NOTE: I.R.P.S. refers to the Inland Revenue Photographic Society at which this print was exhibited. The print is accompanied by a form with Southern's notations and the judges' handwritten inked comments about the photograph. Among them are the judgements "A fine picture, well conceived, well rendered." and "Both the composition & the atmosphere of this picture affect me strongly. I can suggest no improvement."
