With Barker's inscription, signature, place and date of birth (Onondaga Valley, N. Y., May 10, 1829) handwritten in ink on opposing page. NOTE: Barker was one of the older members of the 1856 class, graduating at the age of 27. Following Yale, Barker studied theology and 1859 he became a preacher at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Madison County, NY. For the next 24 years he preached at several churches in the Oneida and Oswego, NY, Conferences, also serving as a Presiding Elder for a part of that time. He died on his farm in East Onondaga, on October 25, 1898.
